How to Create No-Fly Zones for Jib Cranes with Crane Sentry®

Multi-crane environments create a unique coordination challenge: how do you keep a rotating jib crane from colliding with the equipment working around it?

Laser-View Technologies addressed this challenge with a Crane Sentry® installation designed to establish rotational no-fly zones for a jib crane operating alongside a gantry crane and an overhead crane.

The Crane Sentry® system, mounted directly on the jib, wraps around the mast to provide full 360° encoding of the jib’s position at all times. The jib’s rotation is divided into quadrants, and the system is designed to prevent the overhead and gantry cranes from entering the same space as the jib within each zone.

This is one piece of a larger, integrated crane automation system from Laser-View Technologies, which protects all three cranes under a single, central monitoring system.
