The Crane Sentry® Zone Manager uses long range laser distance sensors for zone control in 2 axis. For example, we recently had a client equip two of their overhead cranes with the Crane Sentry® Zone Manager II. In this application, they also equipped CNC machines with Laser-View Technologies’ Crane Sentry® Lite System to detect head height.
When the machine head extends over a predetermined height, the overhead crane bridge cannot cross over the area. Conversely, when the crane is over the area, the machine head is only permitted to extend to a lower height to avoid a potential collision.
