Wondering what should be considered when measuring glossy surfaces with a Dimetix Laser?

Measuring on high glossy measuring surfaces with Dimetix Lasers should be avoided. Strong signal fluctuations and unwanted reflections can negatively influence the measurement accuracy, cause measuring errors, or can possibly damage the laser sensor.

If high glossy measurement surfaces are unavoidable, the following recommendations should be considered:

  • Do not measure perpendicular to the glossy measuring surface
  • Use optical filter/attenuation (before sensor optics) for signal attenuation
