When it comes to overhead cranes and gantry cranes, they can both exist on the same runway. However, the key to safely operating them is keeping them apart at the right time and keeping them in the right position.
Laser-View Technologies’ Crane Sentry® Zone Manager No-Fly Zone Systems can be installed on an overhead crane with a mating system installed on a gantry crane below. In this manner, the overhead crane is permitted to cross the gantry’s path when the gantry trolley is in the safe position and when the overhead hoist is in a safe position. This ensures any potential for collision is averted! An added bonus is that you can keep the upper crane wire rope from touching the lower exposed conductor bar. All motions are monitored via long-range, laser positioning.
