Laser-View Technologies supplied a Dimetix D-Series laser distance sensor mounted inside a special sealed enclosure to the Boeing Space Launch System (SLS) Development. As cited on their website, Boeing is the primary contractor for the “design, development, test and production of the launch vehicle core stage, as well as development of the flight avionics suite.”

The SLS is a USA super heavy-lift expendable launch vehicle, which has been under development since 2011. The vehicle is part of NASA’s deep space exploration plans. It’s designed to carry astronauts and cargo to the Moon and other deep space locations.

Laser-View Technologies was chosen as the supplier because of its ability to provide a laser measuring assembly in a sealed package with high accuracy. The assembly includes a Dimetix DAN-10-150 laser distance sensor, capable of measuring up to 150 meters with 1 mm accuracy.
