On Tuesday, June 21st, Laser-View Technologies’ President, Steven Lubeck, will be presenting at the AISTech 28th Crane Symposium. His presentation, “Safety Control Retrofit to Overhead Cranes Using Advanced Sensors and Controls; Metal Stamping Operations,” will address the dangers of side pulling that are common in many stamping facilities worldwide.

Safety can be compromised if a hoist or its load collides with equipment and possibly personnel. The same applies if an operator snags the hoist. A snag condition poses multiple dangers that could result in a serious accident, damaged equipment and personnel, and prolonged downtime.

In his presentation, Steven will discuss a few solutions to this problem:

  • The implementation of no-fly zone systems
  • Hoist monitoring for side load
  • Snag and centering
  • Plus under-hook die handlers that safely rotate dies into position in a repeatable manner

In particular, he will speak about how to apply safety and reliability systems, such as, Crane Sentry® Hoist Side Pull to existing overhead cranes.
